| Finished in finest quality aniline leather and chrome, this Barcelona chair and ottoman, made in a small workshop in Italy, is the very best reproduction we have ever come across. Based on the scissors-shaped chair that symbolised power in the ancient world, the pavilion chair was designed by Mies van der Rohe for the 1929 international exhibition in Barcelona. With its suave curves and attention to detail, the design remains true to the perfectionist ideals of the Bauhaus Movement, whilst feeling utterly luxurious. Individual leather squares are cut and sewn by hand to form the cushions as the Knoll version, unlike inferior reproductions which are often made with a single piece of leather, guaranteed to curl. The edges of the cushions are piped with matching leather, sewn by hand. The leather comes from the tannery in Italy that Knoll use for their Barcelona chairs and is full grain aniline leather with protective finish, CAT.A, Aniline leather recommended. Cushions with high quality 52 Kg m3 polyurethane foam and polyester fibre. Thick saddle leather belting straps. The heavy gauge flat steel frame is meticulously chromed to a mirror finish. A silicone coating prevents chips or peeling and protects against rust. The joints are clean and seamless with hidden drilled countersunk holes. Available in over 60 different leather colours in 3 different standards, including contract standard. These products are covered by our 5 year limited warranty for all faults in manufacturing or material. Within this time we will substitute any defective part, or if this should not be possible, the whole item at no charge. |
